| Sam Neill now interested in JP4? |
Posted by jackdelamare on Sunday, January 15 at 9:59 PM | Thanks to Oviraptor for pointing this in my direction - in an interview with Dillon Casey, he talks about how intimidating it was working on the film 'The Vow' because of the recognizable actors also in the film. One of those names was Sam Neill, and Dillon Casey comments how the first thing he asked him was directly about Jurassic Park IV. |
"When I got the part, I didn't really realize how stacked the cast was: Sam Neill, Jessica Lange, Channing Tatum, Scott Speedman, Rachel McAdams," he said. "So it was pretty cool, and the first question I ask Sam Neill is if he's going to do a Jurassic Park IV. A previous bit of news indicated that Sam Neill had little to no interest in a fourth Jurassic Park, so I'm not quite sure where this fits in time wise, but I would be happy with Sam Neill returning. "I don't want to talk about Jurassic Park 4 yet – it's too early – but I can tell you that I'm not directing it. I'm producing it though."
Will Jurassic Park 4 be a reboot or a sequel and will it be released to mark the 20th anniversary of Jurassic Park?
"I can't say. I will when the time is right, but for now I can't talk about it."
In a seperate interview with Den of Geek, they spoke to producer Kathleen Kennedy about Jurassic Park 4 also, and she says the script has not begun yet. However, she said it's ready to go which means they've cracked the story.
And it seems like you're in a similar situation now with Jurassic Park 4...
Well we haven't started the script yet.
That's another one that's been knocked around for ten years or more.
It's been knocked around, but I always think there's a big difference between just talk and actual work. So we haven’t had a screenwriter on Jurassic, and we haven’t been working on a script. So until we do that, which is probably going to start up now... We really, really hoped, and Steven really, really tried, to bring somebody on before we started Lincoln, so that a script could be written by the time we finished Lincoln. That's how we usually like to work, but we just didn't get to a point where we had a story that we thought was really right, so we're not going to be really starting on that until... now.
So the script is a little behind their planned schedule but it's ready to write, so we can only hope that this is a big year for the production of Jurassic Park 4. I can't wait for the greenlight!

"I haven't been active in the last year because I've been so busy obviously on 'War Horse,' 'Tintin' and now I'm currently shooting 'Lincoln,' but right now, it's on the schedule to bring out another 'Jurassic Park.'"
When they attempted to get more information out of him by asking if the story will continue from the last movie or start from scratch he simply chuckled and replied:
"It's just another boring secret,"
Not sure how to take that last comment, but we have been getting a lot of JPIV related news in the past few months so we can only assume things really are moving forward.
